Three shortlisted for Top 14 POTY

The shortlist for the Top 14’s Best Player of the 2016/17 season has been released, with the winner set to be announced in Paris on September 18.

Lyon’s England number eight Carl Fearns has been nominated as well as Clermont’s France centre Remi Lamerat and La Rochelle’s former All Black Victor Vito.

Fearns’ stellar season saw him score eight tries in 19 matches and he was his club’s highest try scorer.

Vito was instrumental in assisting La Rochelle to finish the Top 14 season in first place before losing their subsequent semi-final to Toulon.

Lamerat was one of the stars in the Clermont side that won the Top 14 title and made it into the European Champions Cup final. He scored his side’s opening try in their 28-17 defeat to Saracens.
