Wasps picked up an impressive 40-10 win over Newcastle Falcons at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday, sealing a try bonus-point in the process.
After a poor start to the domestic season, this was a much-needed triumph for Dai Young’s men and they were too much for their visitors.
Wasps shot out of the blocks in the first period with three tries inside the first 13 minutes seeing them race into a handsome 19-3 buffer.
The tries came from Christian Wade (2) and Kyle Eastmond, with Jimmy Gopperth converting two. Toby Flood slotted a Falcons penalty.
Newcastle steadied the ship thereafter in the half with a converted try from Sean Robinson on 32 minutes pulling them back into matters.
Wasps though yet again came out of their dressing room with a spring in their step and got over for their fourth try on 44 minutes when James Haskell crossed. With Gopperth’s successful conversion the home outfit were 26-10 in front, crucially back in a two-score advantage.
Replacement Gabiriele Lovobalavu extended the lead to 23 points on the hour when he scored a converted try, putting Wasps in control.
And they added gloss to their win with a 74th minute try from Josh Bassett wrapping up the victory, which is only their fourth this season.
