Shoulder scan for O’Donnell

Ireland forwards coach Simon Easterby has revealed that flanker Tommy O'Donnell is set to have a scan on a shoulder he injured on Monday.

Easterby gave an update on the squad as preparations build for the sold out first game of their end-of-year series, against South Africa.

Speaking at a media session after training, Easterby said: "Tommy O'Donnell picked up a bit of a shoulder bump in training yesterday so he's due to have a scan today.

"Jack Conan sat out training, he just had a heavy workload and Dan Leavy had a bit of tightness in his hamstring, obviously he played at the weekend. Again it's just managing his workload.

"It's just about being sensible and earmarking players who may have potential weaknesses. If you know about things, at least you can prepare for that and not take any unnecessary risks."
