Season over for Tim Nanai-Williams

Chiefs back and Samoan international Tim Nanai-Williams will miss the rest of the 2018 Super Rugby season due to injury.

After just one round of Super Rugby in New Zealand the Chiefs' injuries are already mounting as Nanai-Williams has suffered a season-ending shoulder injury.

Samoan international Nanai-Williams is scheduled to have an operation on the same shoulder that forced him to miss most of the 2017 Super Rugby season.

Nanai-Williams suffered his most recent injury in the Chiefs' 45-23 loss to the Crusaders in Christchurch on Saturday.

If losing the match and Nanai-Williams was not enough for the Hamilton side the Chiefs will also be without co-captain Charlie Ngatai for at least two weeks.

Former Crusader Dominic Bird is also expected to miss around two weeks of Super Rugby after he was forced from the field early in the first half with a shoulder injury.

Ngatai ruptured his medial ligament in the loss to the Crusaders on Saturday while Mitchell Brown and Marty McKenzie are also in doubt for Friday’s match against the Blues due to their concussions.
