Another busy day in the rugby union game as SANZAAR rejected claims that there would be a South African exodus from Super Rugby to the PRO14.
What’s on the site
We round up the week’s talking points in ‘who’s hot and who’s not,’ where club legends Aurelien Rougerie and Matt Banahan were given fitting send-offs, but it was a poor few days for La Rochelle and the Waratahs.
Unsurprisingly, after their defeat to the Blues, the Australian outfit were not represented in the Super Rugby Team of the Week, but there were a number of Crusaders players included.
There are also highlights of the Premiership, where the regular season reached its conclusion, and the PRO14 semi-final qualifiers.
What’s in the news
After reports said that the PRO14 would be expanding to include three more South African teams, SANZAAR have refuted that claim.
On the international front, Martin Johnson has questioned whether there is a lack of depth in English rugby, while in Super Rugby, the Highlanders have tied down All Blacks Liam Squire and Waisake Naholo to new contracts.
There was frustrating news for Leinster, however, with Fergus McFadden being ruled out of the Champions Cup final, although Luke McGrath should be available.
What’s on social media
Perpignan were promoted to the Top 14 after a four-year absence and former player, All Blacks’ legend Dan Carter, was one of those to congratulate the club on their achievement.
Bravo @usap_officiel. Welcome back to the Top 14

What’s on TV
The European finals take place this weekend and the Champions Cup and Challenge Cup will be shown on both BT Sport and Sky Sports.
Sky also have all the Super Rugby action, which starts with the Blues looking to build on their victory over the Waratahs when they take on the Hurricanes.
