Argentina captain Agustin Creevy slammed his side's poor discipline in their 41-23 defeat to South Africa in Salta on Saturday.
“We weren’t patient, we didn’t have control when we should have,” captain Creevy told Reuters after the match.
Los Pumas played the last quarter of the match with 14 men after Tomas Lavanini was red carded when he received his second yellow card and this followed Juan Manuel Leguizamon also being sent to the sin bin late in the first half.
“It’s very hard to play with 14 players for almost half a match of this kind,” added Creevy.
Argentina head coach Daniel Hourcade admitted that his side's poor discipline is a concern.
“We’ll be talking with Lavanini… Of course indiscipline is worrying,” he said.
Los Pumas battled to get going in Salta and conceded several turnovers and a plethora of penalties. They also made hurried decisions on attack which cost them dearly in the end.
“With the ball (in hand) the spaces open up; when we have it we know how to generate danger but for that to happen we mustn’t lose it in attack and today we did lose it,” said Emiliano Boffelli who kicked two long-range penalties.
”To play against these teams, you can’t lose the ball or commit penalties… That’s probably the difference between the Pumas and Springboks.”
