Exeter Chiefs lock Geoff Parling is set to leave the club at the end of their current campaign to further his career in Japan and Australia.
Parling will join an unnamed club in Japan's Top League on a short-term deal when his Exeter contract expires at the end of the season before moving to an Australian Super Rugby outfit.
Exeter Chiefs boss Rob Baxter confirmed that the former Newcastle Falcons, Leicester Tigers, England and British and Irish Lions second-row will be leaving the Premiership club.
"There haven't been any issues, it's just that Geoff has had a great opportunity to play a couple of seasons in Japan and Australia," Baxter told DevonLive.
"That is a great chance for him and, at the time we were negotiating contracts with him – which started quite a while ago – that was probably a better option than we could put together for him.
"There have not been any issues or problems with us at all. I think over the last couple of months there have been times we have thought it would be great if Geoff would stay and Geoff would think about staying, but sometimes players just move on."
