Ojo reflects on ‘special’ Paris win

Topsy Ojo cut a delighted figure after he marked his record breaking appearance with a brace of tries during his side’s stunning 44-7 victory over Stade Français Paris in the French capital.

The London Irish wing was in scintillating form on a night which made him the most capped Exile of all time with 281 London Irish appearances as he surpassed the record previously held by Justin Bishop.

“It was a great game to be part of and everyone stepped up and did a fantastic job, so it made it a memorable game for me,” said Ojo, 32.

“To come to France and win at any time is special and we’re delighted.”

Ojo’s second try was certainly one for the scrapbook, intercepting a floated Stade pass inside his own 22 to race the length of the field to score.

In typical fashion, Ojo was keen to pay tribute to the team, saying: “It was nice to get on the scoresheet twice and I guess you couldn’t write the script, but it was a huge team effort.”

Three Irish tries in the opening 13 minutes of the contest set the platform for the evening, with Ojo pinpointing the early exchanges as a key moment.

“We started the game well and we finished the game well, which was very pleasing to see so testament to the lads,” said Ojo.

“It was a squad effort and everyone played their part.”
