Rebels head coach Tony McGahan remained upbeat after their 31-15 loss to the Stormers in Cape Town, saying they could take a lot from the showing.
The Melbourne outfit has enjoyed a largely positive campaign to date and currently sit tenth in the standings after a disappointing result, particularly for those who bet on sport and Melbourne, on Saturday.
McGahan feels the score at Newlands could have been a lot closer had his team not gifted the Stormers points, but he would not be too downhearted.
"We take a lot of positives out of that performance despite the result. However a lack of composure at our end provided them with some easy points," he told the Canberra Times.
"What's been evident all year is that we have a fantastic group of young men who have a great spirit and play for each other, and we showed that again tonight in the way the boys played right until the end.
"It's a very tough place to come and play, and with finals on the horizon, it was a really important game for them and they're a quality side."
