Hooper – ‘Chance to start afresh’

Waratahs flank Michael Hooper believes a poor Super Rugby campaign will have no bearing on the June internationals for the Wallabies.

Australian Super Rugby teams have struggled this season, with none of the country's five teams having won more than three matches from 12 rounds. Also, they have failed to beat a New Zealand in 17 attempts.

Meanwhile, there has been the looming issue of which franchise will be axed from Super Rugby next season.

But Hooper is confident that this will not distract the Wallabies' players who will see the international break as an opportunity to
start afresh on a clean slate.

"The ability to separate those (Super Rugby and tests) is something the Wallabies have always been good at," the 25-year-old told Reuters.

"And (it's) something that the coaching staff will definitely look into.

"It's a different challenge. It's actually a lot easier than you think," Hooper said of getting over the provincial gloom. There's new people to bounce ideas off. It's a fresh environment, fresh faces.

"So there's a lot of enthusiasm, not to leave that stuff behind but take what you've learned and bring it in and pool it in together."
