Harlequins late show stuns Sarries

Harlequins made a fine start to their Anglo-Welsh Cup campaign when they claimed a thrilling 30-29 win over Saracens at Allianz Park on Sunday.

The visitors trailed for most of the match but secured the result courtesy of a James Lang conversion with the final act of the match after Josh Ibuanokpe crossed for a try in injury time.

The home side held a 16-5 lead at half-time thanks to a converted Jack Nay try and three Max Malins penalties, with Quins' only points of the half notched via an early Harry Sloan try.

Sarries continued to dominate after the restart and tries from Nathan Earle and Tom Whiteley gave them a 26-5 lead midway through the half. Quins fought back with tries from Alofa Alofa and Elia Elia before Lang and Malins traded penalties which gave Sarries a 29-23 lead by the 73rd minute.

Quins did not surrender though and Ibuanokpe's late try allowed Lang to finish as the hero with his superb place-kick which won the game for his side.
