Western Province director of rugby Gert Smal has rubbished speculation that he will succeed Danny Wilson as Cardiff Blues head coach.
Wales Online reported that Smal, who was part of Jake White’s 2007 World Cup winning coaching staff, was interviewed by Cardiff Blues CEO Richard Holland earlier this month.
However, Smal denied the link to Sport24, saying he has never even seen Holland before in his life.
“It’s completely not true,” he said. “I don’t even know what the guy looks like.”
The Blues are looking for a replacement for Wilson who will join Wasps as he seeks a new challenge.
Smal joined Western Province as director of rugby in 2014.
