The Stormers have confirmed that Springbok captain Eben Etzebeth will be out for a further four months as he battles to recover from a shoulder injury.
Etzebeth sustained what looked like a badly dislocated shoulder in last November’s 24-22 defeat to Wales and his comeback is taking much longer than expected.
It is a big blow for the Stormers’ Super Rugby campaign which kicks off on February 17 against the Jaguares at Newlands.
This means that the 26-year-old will face a race against time to be fit for the Boks’ June internationals. Etzebeth’s performances went up a notch with the added responsibility of the captaincy in Warren Whiteley’s absence.
