Chisholm banned for three weeks

Harlequins flanker James Chisholm has been handed a three-week ban for foul play in his side’s Premiership defeat to Bath at the Recreation Ground on Saturday.

Chisholm appeared before an independent disciplinary panel on Tuesday.

He was cited by independent citing commissioner Chris Catling and charged with allegedly tip tackling Bath’s Kahn Fotuali’i contrary to law 10.4(j). The incident occurred in the first half of the match which Bath won 38-14.

Chisholm pleaded guilty to the charge and was suspended for a period of three weeks. He is available to play again on 19 December 2017.

The chairman of the panel Jeremy Summers said: “The panel found that this was a reckless and poorly executed tip tackle that caused no injury or effect on the game. As such, it merited a low-end entry point of six weeks. Due to the player’s guilty plea, clear record and remorse, the panel gave full mitigation resulting in a ban of three weeks”.

The independent disciplinary panel comprised of Jeremy Summers (chairman) with Mike Tutty and Richard Snowden.
