The Bulls are sweating over the fitness of fly-half Handrè Pollard after the Springbok suffered a shoulder injury whilst playing in Japan.
The 21-year-old sustained the problem on duty for NTT Doccomo and Bulls head coach Nollis Morais admits it is a waiting game on his fate.
"Handré is a bit of a concern at the moment, we will have a discussion with his specialist and see what the route forward is,” he told Supersport.
"We need to decide how serious it is – is it only a two week rehab or is it more serious. I'm waiting for Thys de Beer to give me a call regarding the shoulder."
He added on his back-up options: "It is a major concern for us, but luckily we brought in Francois Brummer last year because I knew if something like this happens, we will have a bit of a problem.
"Tiaan (Schoeman) is also coming back from injury, he will be on the field next week. He had that meniscus injury so it just basically a last week of rehab that is left before he can play again."
The Bulls begin their Super Rugby campaign on Saturday, February 27 against the Stormers at Newlands.
