Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s incredible record ends as he misses out on his first Team of the Year spot in SEVEN seasons, after being named in the last six XIs

ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC has missed out on his first Team of the Year spot in SEVEN seasons, after being named in the last six.

The Swede star, 35, was a surprise omission from the PFA Team of the Year released on Thursday after an impressive debut season in England.

Ibrahimovic has scored 17 Premier League goals this season – good for fourth in the league.

Most amazingly though is that in missing out, Zlatan was snubbed from his first Team of the Year place in seven tries.

The Manchester United man was named in the Ligue 1 best XI in all four of his seasons at Paris Saint-Germain.

On top of that, he had been named in the Serie A Team of the Year in his last two seasons there, while at AC Milan - in 2011-12 and 2012-13.

Zlatan's record may even have been longer than six in a row, had it not been for the La Liga not having a Team of the Year back when he was at Barcelona.

So this year must have come as a shock to Ibrahimovic, after he was snubbed in favour of Romelu Lukaku and Harry Kane.

The duo were named as the strikers for the 2016-17 PFA Team of the Year, with Eden Hazard, Dele Alli, N'Golo Kante and Sadio Mane in midfield.

Kyle Walker, David Luiz, Gary Cahill and Danny Rose were named as the back four, ahead of David De Gea in goal.

Along with Ibrahimovic, Alexis Sanchez was a shock omission from the XI, having already been named as a candidate for Player of the Year.
