STANGELY, of the awards, headlines and moment of pure genius conjured up by Zinedine Zidane, he only managed to win La Liga twice.
Once as a player in 2002-03 and again as head coach in 2016-17.
Okay, he ran into a Barcelona side that played as though it was enjoying a headwind full-time.
And the number of trophies he won over his entire career amounted to one every 17 games…
But it’s still surprising that Zizou, for all his fantastic career numbers, didn’t improve on first statistic.
Elsewhere, though, his record speaks volumes at almost every turn.
He leaves having become the first manager to win the Champions League on three consecutive occasions following Real Madrid’s 3-1 defeat of Liverpool 3-1.
