Zenit St Petersburg post hilarious response to fast food giant’s alleged £5.75million offer to rename their team Zenit Burger King
RUSSIAN side Zenit St Petersburg were allegedly offered a whopping £5.75million to change their name to Zenit Burger King earlier today.
According to sources (or, ahem, sauces) in Russia, the offer came from Burger King HQ itself, with a photo shared online of a letter from the fast food company.
But the Russian Premier League side, who will play the likes of Irish side Dundalk in the Europa League group stages this season, responded in the most hilarious way this afternoon.
On a backdrop of a scene from hit TV show Game of Thrones, a character punches another – with the Burger King character superimposed on – and a caption reading: “Who’s the king?!”.

When translated from Russian, the letter requests that for 500 million roubles, or £5.75million, the Russian side, formerly managed by Andre Villas Boas, change their name to include the fast-food chain.
While the letter has yet to be verified, and many believe it to be an elaborate hoax, the suggestion has gone down a storm on social media – and did not stop the club responding.
