York City sign ‘cousin’ of a Saints ace before releasing him after four days and 81 minutes of reserve action
YORK CITY pulled off a signing straight out of the Ali Dia diaries.
The National League side completed the signing of defender Derwin Martina on a deal until the end of the season earlier this week.

But after just four days and 81 minutes of reserve-team football, the club decided they had seen enough and released the 22-year-old.

Martina was at fault for Hartlepool’s winning goal and the player admitted afterwards that the game was “really hard for me.”
After completing the signing, York City wrote on their official website that Martina was the brother of Southampton player Cuco.
However the Saints defender has come out and denied that they are related.
He told BBC Radio York: “He is not my cousin, he is just a friend.
“In my country, Martina’s a really big name so a lot of people have that last name, but he’s not by brother.”
