VENUS WILLIAMS kept her emotions under control as she used all her experience to survive a Wimbledon scare.
The oldest woman at the Championships showed all her famed battling qualities to claw her way from behind and beat China’s Qiang Wang 4-6, 6-4, 6-1.

The 37-year-old American, a five-time previous Wimbledon winner, broke down in tears on Monday when questioned about her recent involvement in a fatal car crash.
But she was all smiles on Number One court after her gritty performance against an opponent ranked 55th in the world kept her on course for an eighth Grand Slam title.
With younger sister Serena missing on maternity leave, tenth-seeded Venus is just starting to fancy her chances of going all the way this year.
It is now nine years since she won her last Wimbledon title but her run to this year’s Australian Open final confirmed that she remains a threat in the women’s game.
She might not have the speed and physical superiority which once made her such a force, but she should still have too much for Japan’s Naomi Osaka in the next round.
