Wigan 3 Barnsley 2: Nick Powell hits late hat-trick to stun Tykes and earn three points for Latics
SUPERSUB Nick Powell kept Wigan’s season alive with a stunning 11-minute hat-trick.
He had only just come off the bench when he stepped up to lash in a 71st-minute free-kick as Latics came alive in the face of despair.

And the former Manchester United hopeful followed that up inside 60 seconds when he pounced after keeper Adam Davies fumbled a Ryan Colclough shot to equalise.
Astonishingly Powell was then fouled in the box by Angus MacDonald and slammed in the 82nd-minute penalty that completed an unbelievable turn-around.
Powell hit the injury-time winner at the weekend and his latest trick was even more impressive as Wigan were toiling while Barnsley cruised into the lead.

Nobody saw the Powell play coming when speedy left-winger Ryan Kent made and scored the goals that put his adopted team two up and in control.
Marley Watkins and Kent combined for the Liverpool loanee to hit a post and Adam Armstrong tucked away the rebound for the 42nd-minute opener.

Then on 59 minutes Kent powered a shot past Jakob Haugaard to make it 2-0.
Powell’s treble leaves Wigan still needing a miracle to avoid a third relegation in five seasons, but the gap from safety is now four points with five games to go.
