Who is Mark Geiger?
A REGULAR in the MLS, Geiger began his career in the lower-leagues back in 2002.
He made his bow in American’s top division in 2004 and became Fifa listed just four years later, taking charge of internationals and matches around the continent.
In 2011 he was the MLS referee of the year and a 12 months later was selected as as one of 16 referees to officiate at the 2012 Olympics in London.
A maths teacher in New Jersey, Geiger gave up his teaching career to pursue refereeing and has now reached the very highest level.
He will go to the World Cup in Russia and took charge of numerous games in last year’s Confederations Cup, which gave him valuable experience with the VAR system in use this summer.
