West Ham’s Arthur Masuaku concedes bizarre penalty to give West Brom an early lead and Twitter reacts in angry fashion

AFTER West Ham’s 4-2 defeat to Watford last weekend, manager Slaven Bilic would have wanted his side to start well against West Brom.

But after just eight minutes, summer signing Arthur Masuaku completely lost his head and conceded a penalty after his second bizarre handball in a matter of minutes.

From a free-kick, which was won after Masuaku handballed it, a lofted ball was launched into the box and under no pressure, the 22-year-old unbelievably stuck out his arm and handballed it again.

The referee had no option to award the penalty in which Nacer Chadli dispatched and to hand the Baggies an early advantage.

Bilic was understandably fuming, as were West Ham supporters who took to Twitter to share their anger.

Bilic signed the former Olympiacos left-back this summer as a replacement for the injured Aaron Cresswell.

The 22-year-old has played in every league match so far but his position may be under threat after his defensive howler.

The home side went 2-0 ahead following Solomon Rondon’s 37 minute strike.

It soon got even worse for the Hammers when James McLean gave West Brom a three goal advantage before half time.
