The IOC are satisfied his injury is bad enough for him to miss the Rio Games, that start in just over a week, and have agreed to Argentina making a change to their squad.
But West Ham still don’t know the full extent of the injury and are keen to get the 23-year-old back to make a full diagnosis.
West Ham’s medical chief Stijn Vandenbroucke said: “We want him to return to England to be assessed by our own medical staff as soon as possible.”
