West Ham boss Slaven Bilic ramps up move to bring in out-of-favour Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes

Aug 30, 2017

WEST HAM are reportedly plotting an ambitious swoop to bring in Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes within the next 24 hours.

The Hammers are desperate to bolster their squad after a miserable start to the campaign.

According to ESPN, Slaven Bilic has switched his attentions from Sporting Lisbon’s Portugal star William Carvalho to his international colleague.

And he has instructed London Stadium chiefs to try and get the deal over the line before the transfer window slams shut.

Barcelona are willing to allow the 24-year-old to leave.

Gomes only joined the Nou Camp side from Valencia last summer.

However, he does not feature in new manager Ernesto Valverde’s plans and will need to leave in order to get regular action.

He only figured 17 times for Barcelona in La Liga last season.

And his only appearance so far this season came in the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup against Real Madrid.

West Ham will face competition from Italian champions Juventus for the ace.

But they are hopeful that they can beat the Serie A giants to his services as they look to boost their dismal beginning to the 2017/18 season.

Bilic’s men have lost their opening three matches in the Premier League.
