Salah had put the Kop two up following Danny Ings’ early opener and wrote himself into the record books with his 31st goal of the season.

It was a strike that saw him draw level with Cristiano Ronaldo, Alan Shearer and Luis Suarez as the other Premier League stars to have scored that many goals in a 38-game top flight season.

But it also kept the Egpytian sensation on course for the Golden Boot award ahead of Harry Kane.

While Salah continued to dominate the goalscoring stakes, the most emotional strike of the day came from injury hit Ings.

The Liverpool striker scored his first goal in 930 DAYS when he netted after just four minutes.

Sadio Mane cut in from the left and fed Georginio Wijnaldum in the six yard box who held the ball up for Ings, who came into rifle the ball home.

It was the first goal for Ings since October 2015, when he scored against Everton at Goodsion.

Ings looked in the mood to add to that – but it was Albion striker Jay Rodriguez who came closest to scoring whne he just failed to connect with a James McClean ball in front of goal.

Baggies keeper Ben Foster blocked another Ings effort.

But Albion fans made their feelings known when club captain Jonny Evans came on as a 71st minute sub.

Evans, who looks set to leave this summer, was booed on to the field and then jeered when he touched the ball.

The Northern Irishman was one of the infamous “Cab Four” who allegedly stole a taxi while on a warm weather training trip to Barcelona two months ago.

But just a minute after his arrival, Salah grabbed his history-making goal with 18 minutes to go.

Liverpool sub Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain slid through an inch-perfect pass and Salah lifted the ball over Foster.

But Albion pulled one back when Chris Brunt’s corner was met by Craig Dawson, whose shot was saved by Loris Karius but Jake Livermore stabbed the ball home.

Rondon then headed home with just three minutes to spare to give the Baggies a brief stay of execution.

They have three games left to play and are nine points behind 17th-placed Swansea, who have a game in hand.
