Wayne Rooney to save Manchester United’s day? Here’s what Twitter thinks

Jan 15, 2017

MANCHESTER UNITED turned to Wayne Rooney to try and save the day against Liverpool – and Twitter exploded into life.

The striker is chasing his record-breaking 250th goal for the club, and many believe it is destined to arrive in the second half against the Reds.

A James Milner penalty gave the visitors the lead at the break during the Premier League clash.

And that persuaded Jose Mourinho to hand Rooney the chance to overtake Sir Bobby Charlton's haul as he brought him on for Michael Carrick.

Here's what Twitter thought about the chances of Wazza being the hero:

It is absolutely written that Rooney breaks the record today. He has too.

Just imagine how mental Sky's commentators will go if Rooney gets the record...#inevitable

This is why you start Rooney... looks ice cold to start 2nd half.
