WAYNE ROONEY should shun the riches of the Chinese Super League and instead return to Everton when his Manchester United career is up, insists Harry Redknapp.
The manager-turned-pundit explained to TalkSPORT why the Old Trafford record scorer should go back to the club where it all began.
Redknapp believes Rooney – who SunSport told you has been offered £1million a week in China – can turn the Toffees into top-four regulars.
England’s all-time leading scorer came through the ranks at the Merseyside club, scoring 17 goals in 77 games before being tempted away by United in 2004
Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho has vowed not to get in Rooney’s way should he want the move.
But ‘Arry believes the England skipper’s priorities lie closer to home.
He said: "Mourinho doesn't see him as a starter. He doesn't think he is better than Zlatan.
"Maybe it is time for him to have one more challenge - go somewhere where is wanted and going to be a big player.
"He could go back to his own club Everton. He is an Everton fan. Go back there, finish your career there and take Everton into the Champions League positions.
"He could go there and turn them into a top four club. He could make the difference.
"He could help these young kids who have come in. Imagine having Rooney back around to help on the park, look after them and teach them the game."
