WAYNE ROONEY is set to be axed from the England squad by boss Gareth Southgate, according to reports.
The Three Lions all-time leading goalscorer is not expected to feature in next month’s games against Scotland and France, report the Times.

Rooney, who today took part in a minute’s silence with his Manchester United team-mates following the terror attack in the city, was not in the squad for the games against Germany and Lithuania.

The 31-year-old’s form for Man United has not been good enough or consistent enough to make Southgate think otherwise.
Rooney, who has 119 England caps, made just one appearance for Jose Mourinho’s side between February 1 and April 1.
And it is thought that even three goals in his past six league appearances is not enough to sway Southgate.

The report says Southgate "will not publicly call time" on Rooney's international career.
But it is claimed "in reality the England manager is planning for life without him".
Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford, Jamie Vardy and Daniel Sturridge are expected to be the four strikers Southgate picks on Thursday.
Rooney started what could have been his final Old Trafford game - a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on the season's final day.
