Watford want Genk’s Omar Colley to be their first summer signing as they line up big deal for Gambian defender

WATFORD are reportedly looking to sign Genk defender Omar Colley this summer.

The Watford Observer claims Hornets chiefs are keen to push ahead with transfers despite firing boss Walter Mazzarri.

A replacement is yet to be found but that’s not stopping the club from pursuing a number of targets.

Top of their list is Colley, a 24-year-old Gambia international who plays at centre-back.

It’s claimed he was scouted by Watford in January but could now finally be set for a Premier League switch.

Meanwhile, a new gaffer is set to arrive shortly, with former Leicester and Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri favourite for the job.

There is strong interest in ex-Bayer Leverkusen chief Roger Schmidt, with former Hull leader Marco Silva also in the running.

But the next man to lead the Hornets could find it hard to stop captain Troy Deeney from quitting the club.

Leicester and West Brom are both keen to sign the English striker this summer, but Watford will hold out for a whopping £35million.
