Pictures show club officials even cracking open cans of Gambrinus beer and pouring it on the benches – as if it was a boat that was being ceremonially launched with a broken bottle of champagne.

Gambrinus is one of the most popular beers in the Czech Republic, and brewed just a 10 minute walk away from Viktoria’s Doosan Arena.

The beer is named after the legend of Gambrinus, a mythical European king who is sometimes credited with inventing beer and is known for his heavy drinking and joviality.

General manager Adolf Sadek said: “These are quite unique and I dare to say there is no other club with them.”

The dugouts, which seat 14 and have heated leather seats, needed two tonnes of metal and 300 square metres of aluminium to produce.

They took four weeks to make and will be on show when Plzen play their first game of the season against Dukla Prague on Saturday.
