Valencia boss Marcelino Garcia Toral hospitalised after car collides with wild boar on Spanish motorway

VALENCIA boss Marcelino Garcia Toral had a fright before Christmas when he had a run-in with a wild boar.

The Spanish coach was travelling home to native Asturias for the festive season when his car hit animal on a motorway in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Marcelino, 52, had to go to a nearby hospital for observations but was given the all clear.

Valencia said in a statement: “Marcelino Garcia Toral was involved in a car accident early this morning, while travelling home to Asturias to spend the holidays with his family.

“It took place on a stretch of motorway between Logrono and Bilbao, when a wild boar crossed the road and collided with his car.

“He was taken to hospital, but has already been given the all clear.”

It had already been a bad weekend for Marcelino who watched his third-place side lose ground in the La Liga title race with a 1-0 home loss to former club Villarreal on Saturday.

It was Los Che’s third defeat in four games, after going unbeaten in the league until December.
