TYSON FURY has revealed a punch to the throat caused his husky voice – and it has cost him the chance to duet with Lionel Richie.
Former world heavyweight champion Fury has been ridiculed for the past 18 months for his whispering voice on his social media posts.

Some put it down to the lifestyle which saw the 29-year-old go off the rails after beating Wladimir Klitschko to become world champion.
But Fury, who is now back in training and targeting a comeback fight against Tony Bellew, says the real reason is down to a blow he took in sparring.
Fury said: “I’ve been suffering for a while with this voice.
“I got punched in the throat about 18 months ago by a great light-heavyweight fighter called Ty Mitchell.

“It’s left me with this voice, now this sounds quiet sexy to some people, but it’s stopped my singing for a year because I can’t really get to those notes that I used to.
“I sound like I’ve been on the drink for days, everyone just thinks I’m a wild lunatic.

“I’ve been to the hospital I’ve had the camera down me old throat and I’ve got a blood clot in the back of the throat, not a serious one that can harm me because it can only go down into the stomach sooner or later.

“I’m not in any rush – it’s not causing me any pain, the sexy voice will not last forever.”
But while there is no concern about his health, Fury has revealed it has stopped him singing with one of the legends of the music industry.

The boxer was at a friends wedding anniversary where Richie performed in front of 40 people.
He said he had the opportunity to sing with the American great, but because his throat was so bad he had to decline.

Fury added: “It was my friends private wedding anniversary and he hired Lionel for the evening.
“It was held in Claridges in London, it was the first time I’ve ever saw him live and it was fantastic. He was even better in person than he sounds on the records.
“But for that reason I didn’t sing but I would’ve done and I did have the opportunity to sing.”
