Transfer deadline day: It has been open for over two months….but when does the Premier League window close?

THE transfer window has been open for almost two months now and teams are scrambling to push through some major deals before the deadline ends.

But when exactly does the window close as managers hunt late additions?

The date tends to change each year, but bargain-seeking bosses have until 11pm (BST) Wednesday August 31 to land their top targets this summer.

There have been some exciting last-minute purchases in recent years, with the likes of Radamel Falcao, Danny Welbeck and Anthony Martial all making late switches.

But with the current window on course to smash the £1bn spending mark, top gaffers are hoping to avoid any panic buys with a whole month of shopping still to go.

The Premier League’s ‘traditional’ top four are all scouring the globe for fresh faces, with Manchester United looking to sign Monaco right-back Fabinho after all-but-securing Paul Pogba’s world-record return to Old Trafford from Juventus.

Fierce rivals Manchester City are close to landing Schalke winger Leroy Sane and still want Everton centre-back John Stones to reinforce their defence.

Meanwhile in London, Arsenal continue to monitor Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette despite failing with a big-money bid in July.
