A KIND-HEARTED Tranmere fan walked 274 miles over six days – from Birkenhead to Dover to raise money and watch his side – only for the game to be called off.
Richie Hellon took on the trek to raise money for the Spider-Edie appeal in aid of four-year-old Edie Molyneux, who is being treated for a brain tumour in Mexico.

The 53-year-old expected to celebrate the end of his mammoth charity walk by watching Tranmere play Dover in the Vanarama National League.
But the match was postponed with just two hours’ notice – due to a waterlogged pitch – leaving hundreds of fans who had also made the journey fuming.
But the upbeat fundraiser said the heartbreak was worth it to have generated £3,000 to help Edie’s family relocate to Mexico for her ongoing treatment.
Richie told The Echo: “As soon as I got to the football ground, I felt great, though, when I heard the news that the match had been called off I felt a bit down.

“It was all for Edie. It’s one of the best things I’ve ever done. It’s hard to put into words. I feel very emotional.
“On Thursday night, I heard that Edie had come out of intensive care for the first time in four weeks. This was such a boost for me towards the end of my walk.”
Any donations made will go a long way to help Edie receive the help she requires.
