Tottenham want Manchester United ace Chris Smalling as Red Devils prepare to sell defender after Victor Lindelof deal

CHRIS SMALLING is on Tottenham’s radar as they look for a centre-back.

The England defender will be allowed to leave Manchester United this summer following the arrival of Victor Lindelof from Benfica.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has been looking for cover in that position and was in the race for Harry Maguire before Leicester snapped him up. Swansea’s Alfie Mawson is believed to be another option.

Poch has Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen but needs to strengthen the heart of his defence to cope with a title challenge and Champions League football.

West Ham and Everton have been linked with the 27-year-old and Arsenal are long-term admirers.

Spurs need a new centre-back to replace out-of-favour Kevin Wimmer.

SunSport exclusively revealed yesterday that the Austrian is up for sale at £20million.

However, Spurs are yet to receive any offers and may have to lower the asking price.

Reports also claim Pochettino could move for Lazio winger Keita Balde Diao in a bid to further boost his attack.
