There are seven games to go and Spurs are odds-on to cement a top four place and Champions League football for next season and they are still gunning for the FA Cup.

Kane said: “Whenever something bad happens in football or life, you have to find the positives.

“For me, it was a chance to get a couple of weeks’ break, refresh the other muscles, and get ready for the business end of the season. That’s how I looked at it.

“I didn’t know how quickly I would be back, but I went away with one of the physios, done some rehab, and I knew last week it was looking good and I would be able to step it up.

“Hopefully this time it was quicker than last time. I do the right things off the pitch, and I think that’s a big help.

“The injury was pretty much exactly the same time as last year, funnily enough. I was feeling strong last year and that’s what I’ll try and do this year.

“As a team, we’re in a great position for Champions League football, and we’ve just got to continue that.

“We’ve got big games coming up, so we’ve just got to looking forward to that.”

Kane is chasing Liverpool’s Mo Salah in the race for the Golden Boot. Salah has 29 Premier League goals to Kane’s 24.

Kane said: “Yeah, it’s competition. I had the same last year. For me, I’ve got to focus on my own game and my own team, and we’ll see what happens come the end of the season.

“But for me, it’s just about being positive. I’m delighted to be back out there and win here at Stamford Bridge, and hopefully I can just have a strong finish.

“He’s obviously got a bit of a head start now, and we’ll see what happens.

“I can’t control what he does, so I’ve just got to make sure I prepare well for games and just be ready.”

Kane insists Champions League football is fast becoming the minimum requirement for Tottenham such is the progress of the club in recent seasons.

He said: “Champions League football’s a must, and we’re in a great position. We’ve got to try and win the FA Cup. If we do that, we can say it’s been a very good season.

“Manchester City have run away with the league this year, and fair play to them.

“But for us, it’s about maintaining the Champions League every year and hopefully we can do that, and trying to win a trophy. We’re in a good spot.

“We’ve got a tough game against Manchester United in the semi-final, but if we can get through that we maybe play Chelsea or Southampton and go from there.

“We don’t just want to be a team that gets there one or two years and then falls off. We deserve to be there.

“We showed this year in the CL that we can compete with the best.

“Obviously it was disappointing to go out but we had some great results, so we want to be there again next year and do the same.”
