Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen pens new lucrative deal at White Hart Lane until 2020

TOTTENHAM midfielder Christian Eriksen has put doubts over his future to bed by penning a new lucrative deal with the club.

The Dane has signed a new contract which will keep him at White Hart Lane until 2020.

Tottenham were eager to pen the 24-year-old down on a new deal with his previous contract up in the summer of 2018 but he cast major doubts over his future by rejecting their initial offer.

It was revealed that Eriksen wanted a wage that would make him one of the highest paid players at the club alongside captain Hugo Lloris.

But after continuing talks with boss Mauricio Pochettino and chairman Daniel Levy, Eriksen has signed a new lucrative contract worth in the region of £65,000-a-week.

Speaking to Spurs TV, he said: "There is a great future at this place and I wouldn't have signed if I didn't see that.

"It's a very good group, players who connect with each other, staff who connect with the players.

"We all have an idea of where we want to end, and hopefully we'll achieve that."

The news will delight supporters with Eriksen attracting interest from top European clubs including Juventus and Manchester United.

He played a major role in Tottenham's title hunt last season scoring six and assisting 13 before Leicester pipped them to top spot.

Eriksen has started the season in slow fashion compared to his high standards but will be hoping to get off the mark when they travel to Stoke on Saturday.
