Tottenham Hotspur transfer news: Mauricio Pochettino enquires about Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala ahead of Champions League campaign

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR are showing interest to sign Manchester City‘s defender Eliaquim Mangala before Wednesday’s transfer deadline, according to reports.

Mangala, 25, has not played a game since Pep Guardiola took charge of City and brought in John Stones for £47.5million from Everton.

The City boss also favours defender Vincent Kompany, Nicolas Otamendi and Aleksandar Kolarov alongside Stones, which leaves no room for Mangala.

The the 25-year-old defender joined City for a £32 million from Porto in the summer of 2014.

However, he has failed to demonstrate his price tag and now has to deal with a second-hand job.

Mangala has three years remaining on his contract and has also been linked with a loan move to Napoli.

Spurs are only showing interest for now and nothing has been agreed. But it is unclear whether City would sell a player to a club that finished above them last season.

Meanwhile, Georges-Kevin N'Koudou has been training with Spurs since Thursday (August 25) and the club are in talks with Crystal Palace about a £15 million move for Wilfried Zaha.
