Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino tells Vincent Janssen to get his act together with the striker in danger of being a White Hart Lane flop

MAURICIO POCHETTINO has told striker Vincent Janssen to get his act together if he wants to be a success at Tottenham.

The Dutchman signed for the Lillywhites last summer for a fee of £18million from Eredivisie club AZ Alkmaar and has failed to impress, scoring only four goals all from the penalty spot.

It is likely that Janssen will start in Tottenham’s FA Cup tie away at Fulham this week after Harry Kane took a knock to the knee agaisnt Gent.

Pochettino however has offered no promises to the misfiring 22-year-old.

The Tottenham boss said: “He needs to show more and we will see. Maybe he will have the chance to be on the bench or play from the start against Fulham.

“He was out of the squad against Gent and we cannot be sure if he will be in the squad, on the bench or start the game. Performance is always about how the players show their quality, their belief on the training ground.”

Pochettino went on to make it clear that he has to work hard to be in his starting XI – which is famously part of his hard-running philosophy.
He added: “When I select the starting XI and the bench, I try to be fair.
“It is normal that maybe he needs to show more.”
Three of Tottenham’s four summer signings have failed to impress the Argentine boss and earn a place in the first team with only Victor Wanyama becoming a mainstay in the starting lineup.

Both Moussa Sissoko and George-Kevin-Nkoudou have struggled for game time in this Spurs team.
It is clear Janssen needs to offer more for his club if he wants to prove himself in the Premier League, scoring only five goals in 30 appearances for club and country he has a long way to go before he has done that.
