THIERRY HENRY has revealed how he turned down TRIPLE his salary to stay at Arsenal and win trophies.
The legendary former striker spent eight years at the Gunners and became the club’s all-time record goalscorer while helping the club win two Premier League titles and a pair of FA Cups.

Henry, the assistant manager of Belgium, was asked about Diego Costa wanting to leave Chelsea for the riches of the Chinese Super League while on Sky Sports on Sunday.
And he admitted that he had similar offers to increase his pay packet during his time at Arsenal.
Henry said: “I can understand. It depends what’s your priority.
“I went through it when I was at Arsenal, when we stayed unbeaten in the league.”

The debate was around a player’s ambitions to win trophies or cash in by moving to China despite the poor standard of football.
Henry continued: “Some clubs came, double, triple whatever salary and I stayed because my main priority wasn’t money.
“But I can understand when it is for a player. You have to understand a background of a player, what it is.

“You ask anyone in the world you can triple, quadruple what it is your salary I don’t know anyone in the world who would go ‘er, no’.
“You’re going to listen. My priority was different.”
Henry eventually left Arsenal in 2007 to join Barcelona before moving to the MLS in America for three years at New York Red Bulls.
He briefly returned to Arsenal in 2012 on loan, scoring on his second debut against Leeds in the FA Cup.
