Swansea transfer news: Swans keen on landing Rennes winger Paul-Georges Ntep as Paul Clement looks to bolster attack

SWANSEA are planning a shock raid for Rennes star Paul-Georges Ntep.

The Welsh club have made the French winger, 24, a top target on the advice of their new American stats guru Dan Altman.

Ntep was born in Cameroon but has two caps for France and could be tempted to move to the Premier League — even with a Swans side struggling near the foot of the table.

Altman is advising that £8million-rated Ntep is the missing link in the team after some deep statistical checks.

The New York-based economist and big football fan is close to the American backers behind Swansea and holds a remarkable amount of influence at the club.

The Swans are also closing in on a deal for Tottenham midfielder Tom Carroll, 24, as revealed last month.

But the former England Under-21 star is concerned about the risk of joining a club which could go down.

Swansea have turned down an approach from West Brom for centre-half Federico Fernandez, 27, so the Baggies will now target Barnsley’s Marc Roberts, 26.

The Tykes want £5million for Roberts but that is more than Albion want to pay, Burnley are also interested in the defender, who made his name at Halifax.
