Swansea 4 West Ham 1 match highlights: Swans leap above sorry Hammers with thrashing at Liberty Stadium

SWANSEA ran riot over West Ham as they also moved above them in the Premier League table.

West Ham boss David Moyes said this match should have been called off due to the snow making it too dangerous for fans to travel to south Wales.

Well, those fans who did make the 460-mile round trip were left wishing they hadn’t bothered, for Moyes’ players did a no-show.

Take nothing away from Swansea, this win was fully-deserved. It was their seventh in a row in all competitions as new boss Carlos Carvalhal has them firing.

As for Moyes, he has seen his side take just five points from a possible 21, as they have been dragged back into a relegation battle.

The alarm bells for West Ham were ringing as early as the eighth minute when Ki Sung-Yueng put Swansea ahead.

The South Korean raced forward while the West Ham defence looked like they were in slow-motion as Ki unleashed a left-footed shot from the edge of the box that seemed to trickle past Adrian and into the bottom corner.

Swansea sensed blood and they were unlucky not to score a second when Ki’s free-kick found its way through to Alfie Mawson yet his cross was turned away for a corner.

Federico Fernandez’s effort was then blocked on the line by Declan Rice, but in the melee before, the Hammers received another blow as Winston Reid suffered a nasty knee injury.

The centre-back looked to twist his knee when he fell awkwardly and needed 10 minutes of treatment before leaving the pitch on a stretcher and taken to hospital.

The Hammers were rattled and former striker Andre Ayew was denied a goal on his second debut for the Swans by a fine save from Adrian.

But Carvalhal’s side did not have long to wait for a second as Mike van der Hoorn capitalised on some woeful defending to head home in the 32nd minute.

The Dutchman could not believe his luck as he headed home unchallenged at the far post from Ki’s corner.

Andy King added a third two minutes after the restart when he swept home after the Hammers defence again failed to clear a corner.

King, who was making his first start since joining on loan from Leicester, poked in a third which took Swansea above West Ham in the table.

Jordan Ayew scored Swansea’s fourth from the penalty spot as brother Andre was fouled by Cheikhou Kouyate.

Michail Antonio pulled a late goal back for the Hammers when he made a neat turn in the box before slotting past Lukasz Fabianski.
