When the club were asked why dogs had been banned, they responded by saying it was because of “health and safety reasons”, but that “guide dogs are allowed in”.
The man who was pictured with the dog, “Albert”, is believed to meet his friends for the home games, along with his trusty canine.
The fear is that Albert, along with other supporters who take their dogs to the games, will now go elsewhere on a Saturday afternoon.
There may be a few less fans cheering on Lancing FC now that dogs have been banned from Culver RoadThe decision to ban dogs has not been taken by Lancing Football Club, but by the Sussex FA, who are based at the ground
Those who have commented on the photo have hit out at the ruling, with one saying that the FA “should be trying to get people to games and not pushing them away”.
A number of other non-league clubs have promised Albert and his dog free entry to their games.
Sussex FA have wrote to Lancing’s supporters saying that the decision has been taken due to “a growing range of Health & Safety legislation and requirements.
They also say that in the past year there were a “number of incidents of dogs messing on the pitch” and that some animals “entered the public buildings and kitchen area when not on a leash”.
The FA then say that there was an incident where “two young children were trapped when trying to exit the toilets and had to be rescued by their father due to an aggressive dog”.
