IT’S high stakes in Houston this weekend as the Atlanta Falcons take on the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.
And one fan has put his money where his mouth is in placing an outrageous bet on the NFL’s showpiece season finale.

A Las Vegas betting company took a $1.1million (£880,000) punt on the underdog Falcons to beat the Patriots this Sunday night, ESPN reports.
The gambler placed a bet on the Falcons to win with a three-point handicap, meaning they can lose the game by two points and he’d still be victorious.
They would stand to win $1million if the bet comes in, essentially doubling his money.

With such a close game predicted, it could be a nervous night of watching for the high-stakes punter.
Around 60 per cent of the money gambled in the US on Friday on the Super Bowl was on the Patriots.
But there should be plenty more action on the gambling front with more bets expected throughout Saturday and Super Bowl Sunday.

One bookmaker said that the worst case scenario would be a 31-28 win for the Patriots, which would mean they would have to pay out on both the spread and total points lines.
Both the Patriots and Falcons are finalising their preparations on Saturday ahead of their battle at NRG Stadium for the coveted Vince Lombardi Trophy.
