Moyes was criticised for admitting just two games into the season that he thought the club were involved in a relegation battle.
But the former Everton and Manchester United boss has defended his statement and said he would rather be honest than try to pull the wool over the eyes of the fans.
He added: "I have had over 400 games in the Premier League, I have an idea what a good squad should look like, and even one that could be in mid table.
