STOKE defender Philipp Wollscheid has asked to play in the German fourth tier in a desperate bid for first-team football.
Wollscheid, 27, is currently on loan at Bundesliga side Wolfsburg.

But he has found himself frozen out after boss Dieter Hecking, who signed him on a season-long loan, was sacked.

The centre-back has played just three league games this season.
Fifa rules do not permit the German to sign for a third club this season, so Wollscheid has instead offered his services to Wolfsburg’s Under-23s.
He said: “I want to play football again.

“I went to the club leaders and we had good talks. For all sides this is the best solution at the moment. I am going to the Under-23s and want to integrate quickly and help the team.”
Wollscheid played 45 times for Stoke before making his switch to Wolfsburg.
He said at the time: “Wolfsburg have been an established top-third Bundesliga team in recent years and they now want to get back into Europe, and this is a very attractive challenge for me.
“I’m sure we can realise this goal because we’ve got a strong team.”
