Sporting Lisbon striker Seydou Doumbia injures himself diving and is forced off

KARMA came back to bite Sporting Lisbon striker Seydou Doumbia when he injured himself diving.

The Ivory Coast forward fell to the ground after knocking the ball past Barcelona defender Gerard Pique.

Doumbia attempted to fool the referee by trying to win a penalty claiming the Spaniard clipped his ankles.

But the ref was wise to the 29-year-old’s antics and brandished Doumbia a yellow card.

And to further rub salt in the wound, the former Newcastle man injured his leg in the fall.

It appeared as though Doumbia was trying to get out of receiving a booking by clutching his leg.

But just four minutes later the striker limped off the field with Bas Dost coming on to replace him.

Barca will need to watch the target man closely with the Dutch international’s stunning goal record this year.

In 2017, Dost has scored 30 goals in 31 appearances in all competitions.

The Portuguese side will be hoping he can break the deadlock in their Champions League Group Stage match against the Catalan giants.

The two sides headed for the interval level but Barca will feel they should be ahead.

Luis Suarez missed an absolute sitter in the first-half when he was played through by Jordi Alba.
