Spartak Moscow in racism storm following offensive tweet, suggesting their black footballers were ‘melting in the sun’

SPARTAK MOSCOW have been dragged into a racism storm following a shocking tweet.

The Russian champions, who were in the Champions League this season, posted a video of a group of their black footballers.

They accompanied it with the words: “How chocolate melts in the sun” — along with three “chocolate bar” emojis.

In the video is a smiling Luiz Adriano. The Brazilian joined the club from AC Milan 12 months ago.

Uefa will be under pressure to come down hard on Spartak following the disgusting tweet.

Having finished third in a Champions League group including Liverpool, they are playing Europa League football in 2017 and there have been calls for them to be expelled.

While it is not necessarily fair to judge the whole of Russia by the shocking acts of one club, many have voiced their concerns ahead of this summer’s World Cup as this isn’t the nation’s first accusation of racism in sport.

Worryingly, high-profile incidents of racism have begun creeping back into football in recent months.

Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann “blacked up” as he dressed as a 1980s basketballer for a fancy-dress party.

While a clash between Roberto Firmino and Mason Holgate is also being investigated following accusations of racist language.
