The former Newcastle and Paris Saint-Germain star has struggled to hold down a regular place in Alan Pardew's side this season.
And reports in the Croydon Advertiser suggest Southampton could be ready to test Palace with a bid of around £8million when the transfer window opens in two months.
Pardew's side have slumped down towards the relegation zone in the Premier League on the back of four successive defeats.
He is struggling to settle on his best side and Cabaye's future at Selhurst Park is now in doubt as he finds it hard to produce his best form on a regular basis.
